DRAWINGS
The River Greta, North Yorkshire, has changed little since John Sell Cotman visited the area 200 years ago. The Banks of the Greta, Greta Bridge, Hell Cauldron and the 'Scotchman's Stone' are today, still very much as Cotman found them. Cotman's favorite ground, the gorge and woods above the bridge remain wild, remote and out of time. For several years I've visited the Greta to walk and sketch. The drawings shown here are from my sketchbooks. I'm now developing these ideas into finished paintings.
