This new category embodies work in progress resulting from walking and sketching trips to Greta Bridge in North Yorkshire. John Sell Cotman famously painted here in 1805. The watercolours of Greta Bridge, the Scotchman's Stone and indeed all the paintings that he made along the banks of the River Greta remain amongst his finest achievements.
